Objects
During summer-autumn 2005 I had the opportunity to be involved in the creation of Russia's first magazine dedicated to street art culture.
Working on this magazine had turned out much harder than I had imagined. At that time classic graffity prevailed in Russia that is to say fonts. There were only a few people drawing on walls something different from graffity letters. But anyway we Igor (Borro) (magazine chief editor), me and my wife Luda tried to find appropriate material for the magazine.
Another problem was that we didn't want to end up with an ordinary magazine with color pictures inside, after its printed. At that moment I had the idea to make the magazine cover completely black.
By this time a name for the future magazine came to mind Objects.
I put the following idea into this name everything that is drawn on the wall has to blend into the surrounding space, not rip it apart, like classic graffiti. In other words, to become one whole an object.
Ofcourse, the material that we had recieved for publication and the material I created were completely unapropriate for this concept, but we kept trying. And in the end we had interesting results.
At present time there are three published editions of the magazine. I didn't participate in the last two editions.
Also, it is my opinion that by the time of the magazine's third edition, the creators have not had success making street art popular in Russia.
To my regret, classical graffiti is still dominating Russia.
Special respect to my wife Luda you've done so much for the first edition.
